Fidus is proud to support and give back to non-profit charitable organizations within our communities. Therefore, back in January 2020, we asked our employees to let us know which charities are near and dear to their hearts. Our employees were happy to participate; the choice charities were put into a monthly draw for a $1,000 donation. Fidus cares deeply about our communities and staff and this was a great way of connecting the two.
To date in 2020, these are the local charities that were drawn:
- February 2020 $1,000 Charitable Donation: Kanata Muslim Association (KMA)
KMA is a not-for-profit, federally-registered charity serving Muslims and representing Islam in Ottawa West. KMA has been renting facilities such as community centres, churches and schools for prayers, events and evening & weekend schools. A small rental mosalla is available for daily prayers and limited gatherings.
- March 2020 $1,000 Charitable Donation: The Waupoos Foundation
Waupoos Family Farm offers respite to those who need it most. Open to low-income families, Waupoos provides a family camp experience away from the pressures of daily life. Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming community environment where families can find rest, fellowship, and hope. The farm is supported by The Waupoos Foundation, a Christ-centered community whose mandate is to integrate prayer, work, and play into their service of families in need.
- April 2020 $1,000 Charitable Donation: Parkdale Food Centre
The Parkdale Food Centre’s mission is to build healthier, more connected neighbours and neighbourhoods through good food, innovative community partnerships, and by challenging inequalities in order to create lasting impacts.
Fidus is thrilled to continue this effort and will be donating to local charitable organizations every month. Stay tuned for information on new non-profit organizations we will be supporting throughout 2020.
In addition to our monthly donations, Fidus has also committed to matching employee donations, to local hospitals and/or food banks of their choice in relation COVID-19 support. Our intention is that the hospital donations will be used for frontline PPE and equipment.
